Pilates teaching excellence from Alice Nebel, who trained under prestigious London based Body Control Pilates and now proudly a member of the SPM (The Society for the Pilates method) protecting the reputation and integrity of the Pilates Method.
Alice founded Islington Pilates, London, before relocating back to her home town in the West Midlands during the pandemic. Her loyal London clientele have stuck with her on Zoom, she now also teaches live classes in the Kinver area and Reformer 1:1 from home.
Alices classes are routed in good teaching of the Pilates method, with careful consideration for the individual body and how that body learns and responds. You are well looked after in my classes.
Why Pilates?
Suitable for all ages groups, Pilates offers a challenging yet low impact form of body conditioning. The exercise was first founded by Joseph Pilates in the 1920's who could see modern living was having a disastrous effect on people's health and fitness levels, he could see a clear connection between poor posture, sedentary lifestyles and ill heath. After studying many types of body conditioning including yoga and bodybuilding, J.Pilates created what we now know as Pilates, an exercise method well ahead of its time with an emphasis on quality, not quantity.
'You are only as young as your spinal column is flexible' Jospeh Pilates
Pilates technique is to simultaneously strengthen and lengthen the body under complete control. All movement originates from 'the powerhouse', the large group of muscles at the very centre of your body that move and stabilise your pelvic and trunk. You will learn how to control you body from its centre, find movement that flows and free your body from tension.
Feel your body
Light-hearted yet hard work in equal measures, I have a passion for good technique, good movement patterns, and really helping you understand your body. All classes are limited to 12 clients, for individual alignment adjustment and guidance. I don't care if you are good at Pilates or not, I just care that you give it your best. Sometimes it's uncomfortable, most of the time it's bloody good fun!
See you on the mat. x
